James W. Gibson - The Man Who Saved United - Badge

James W. Gibson is often described as the man who saved Manchester United "twice"—first from financial extinction and later from the physical destruction of World War II.
In December 1931, the club was crippled by the Great Depression, and the bank had refused to pay player wages. Gibson, a wealthy uniform manufacturer, stepped in with a £2,000 investment (roughly £118,000 today) to settle immediate debts. Legend has it he even bought every member of staff a Christmas turkey that year to boost morale. He later injected an additional £40,000 to keep the club afloat while it struggled in the Second Division.
During the Blitz in March 1941, German bombs hit Old Trafford, leaving the stadium in ruins. Gibson:
1. Lobbied the Government: He successfully pressured Parliament to provide grants and licenses for the rebuilding of sports grounds damaged by bombing.
2. Funded Repairs: He personally helped finance the stadium's reconstruction, which was completed in 1949.
The badge has a heritage feel, utilizing a polished gold-tone metal border and a clean enamel finish that gives it a premium, historic appearance.
