Roboute Guilliman is one of the most iconic and influential characters in Warhammer 40,000, celebrated as the Primarch of the Ultramarines and current Lord Commander of the Imperium. Created by the Emperor of Mankind during the Great Crusade, Guilliman embodies tactical genius, discipline, and the ideal of Imperial order.

Raised on the world of Macragge, Guilliman quickly demonstrated brilliance as a statesman and general. He transformed Macragge into a model of efficiency and prosperity, earning the loyalty of his Ultramarines Space Marine Legion. Known for his Codex Astartes, Guilliman established the doctrine that shaped the organization of all Space Marine Chapters after the Horus Heresy, splitting the Legions into smaller, more controllable forces to prevent future civil wars.

During the Horus Heresy, Guilliman remained loyal to the Emperor, fighting fiercely against the traitor Primarchs and the forces of Chaos. He led the Ultramarines in the defense of the Imperium, but was devastated to learn of the Emperor’s mortal wounding. After the Heresy, Guilliman took on the role of Lord Commander of the Imperium, stabilizing the fractured empire and enforcing the Codex Astartes to safeguard humanity’s future. 

Believed lost to a fatal wound inflicted by Fulgrim, the Daemon Primarch of the Emperor’s Children, Guilliman was preserved in stasis for ten thousand years. He was resurrected during the Gathering Storm campaign in the 41st Millennium by the Archmagos Belisarius Cawl and Yvraine of the Ynnari. Awakened to a galaxy consumed by endless war and the corrupting influence of Chaos Gods, Guilliman now leads the Indomitus Crusade to reclaim Imperial worlds, reinforcing the Imperium with the newly created Primaris Space Marines.

As one of only two loyalist Primarchs to return in the current timeline, Guilliman serves as the Emperor’s Regent, wrestling with the reality of Imperial dogma, the oppressive Ecclesiarchy, bagging himself an Eldari goth girlfriend, (maybe), and the dark truth of the Imperium’s stagnation. His complex struggle to save humanity while confronting its failings makes him one of Warhammer 40K’s most compelling and nuanced characters.
