- Leave unopened tubes sealed. The pressure inside is what keeps a ball alive on the shelf.
- Store at room temperature. A cold boot overnight or a hot car in summer will cost you bounce.
- Rotate between tubes rather than playing one set into the ground — you'll get more court time from the same spend.
- Time to replace them when a ball dropped from shoulder height no longer comes back up to roughly waist height.
Can I just use tennis balls instead?
You can, but they won't play right. Padel balls run at a slightly lower internal pressure than tennis balls, which gives the lower, more controlled bounce the game is built around. Tennis balls come off the glass too lively and make the back wall much harder to read.
How long will a tube last?
It depends entirely on how hard you hit and how often you play. Social players commonly get several sessions from a tube; competitive players hitting heavy topspin will notice the pace drop sooner. Use the shoulder-height drop test above rather than counting games.
Are these suitable for beginners?
Yes. A consistent, predictable bounce is arguably more useful when you're learning than when you're not — it's much easier to build technique against a ball that behaves the same way every time.
