Full black is a blunt instrument — sometimes you want the recesses to go dark without swallowing the sculpt whole, and that's exactly the gap AK's Soft Black fills. It's part of the Quick Gen range, a resin-based contrast formula that flows into the low points and pulls back off raised detail in a single coat, giving you shade and highlight together without building up thin layers by hand. Brush it over a light primer and a flat grey model turns into something with real depth in minutes.
Best for
- Black cloth, leather, hair and fur where a full black would flatten the sculpt
- Speed-painting squads and rank-and-file over a white or pale primer
- One-pass shading when there's no time for a proper wash-and-highlight cycle
Load your brush, flow it on, and let the resin do the sorting — recesses go convincingly dark while the raised edges stay readable.
