Dartmoor Distillery Bourbon Cask Matured Whisky, 70cl

Dartmoor Distillery Bourbon Cask Matured Whisky is part of a range of beautiful whiskies made in its rare Cognac still with barley grown at Preston Farm, Dartmoor, and malted at the famous Warminster Maltings. This particular bottling has been matured in bourbon casks, which brings an attractive soft, fruity sweetness to the whisky.

This is what their Master Distiller, Frank McHardy, had to say about their Ex-Bourbon cask whisky: “Here the spirit has taken on typical golden colour from the Bourbon cask. On the nose there are vanilla aromas as you would expect from a bourbon cask. There are toffee notes on the palate, crème brûlée and marshmallow. It’s very sweet to the taste, almost honeyed.”

The origins of Dartmoor Whisky Distillery can be traced back to Islay in the Hebrides several years ago, where a group of whisky enthusiasts had travelled to make whisky. On their return, they began to question why there weren’t any whisky distilleries in Devon.

The county’s climate and soil is perfect for growing great quality barley, the granite geology of Dartmoor is a wonderful filter for clear spring water, and the exceptional air quality with sea breezes provide great storage during maturation.
