Just like a lick mat, the Fussy Cat Ceramic Slow feeder promotes healthy eating by slowing down the whole eating process, forcing your feline friend to pick, lick and paw at the bowl to get at the food. Also most cats don't like the smell of plastic or when their whiskers touch the edge of the bowl.

Our 'Lick Mat' is hand made from ceramic which has a totally sealed hygienic surface, so nothing is absorbed, giving it an almost unlimited lifetime. Great for both wet and dry food, it is also dishwasher and microwave safe!

Why a slow feeder? Because cats can eat fast, really fast, and it isn't always good for them. It starts in the kitten phase where competition for food can be high. If not nipped in the bud at an early stage, it can lead to over-eating, upset stomachs and in many cases, vomiting.

Why is it like a mat? Cats are much more comfortable eating when they have a 360-degree view of their surroundings. The Fussy Cat Slow Feeder is only 16mm tall, so when popped on a feeding mat, it puts it at the perfect height for a cat. Also with no deep edges, whisker fatigue is totally eliminated.

Why Ceramic? Silicone or TPR (Thermoplastic Rubber) lick mats are great, for a while...! After a few months the silicone absorbs the fats from the food, becomes slimy, stinky and impossible to clean demanding frequent replacements. And being non-recyclable, silicone lick mats end up in the landfill.

It's available in 3 colours and now 2 sizes! The smaller size is perfect for cats of around 5kg, including most indoor or older cats with a smaller appetite, and measures a cat-purrfect size of 145x145x16mm weighing approx. 330g.

The larger size will suit bigger, more active or outdoor cats including breeds such as a Bengal or Maine Coon as they tend to have a larger appetite. The large size measures 193x193x16mm and weighs approx. 580g.
