Who is Lisandro Martínez?

Lisandro Martínez, born on 18 January 1998 in Gualeguay, Argentina, has carved out a reputation as a tenacious, intelligent, and technically gifted centre-back. Known for his aggressive defending, excellent passing range, and never-say-die attitude, Martínez is a key figure at Manchester United and a proud member of the Argentina national team.

Since joining Manchester United in 2022 from Dutch giants Ajax, Martínez has become a vital part of the Red Devils’ backline. Despite being under 6 feet tall - unusual for a centre-back - he’s proven himself time and again against the toughest opposition. In his debut Premier League season, he made over 30 appearances, playing a crucial role in United’s top-four finish and their 2023 Carabao Cup win.

Before moving to England, Martínez starred at Ajax, winning multiple Eredivisie titles and being named the club’s Player of the Year for 2021-22. His technical skill, bravery in the tackle, and positional awareness made him a standout in Europe and caught the eye of Erik ten Hag, who brought him to Manchester.

On the international stage, Martínez was part of the Argentina squad that lifted the 2022 FIFA World Cup, adding global glory to his growing list of honours. He has earned caps under Lionel Scaloni and continues to be a key part of the Albiceleste’s defensive plans.

Players Couture - Made to Order, Sustainably Produced

Players Couture is an independent fan label. We always encourage supporters to buy official merchandise first - but we recognise that official merchandise doesn't always exist for every player, every legend or every cultural figure that fans want to represent. That's why Players Couture was created. Our products are not official merchandise and are not produced in partnership with, endorsed by or affiliated with any club, player, governing body or rights holder. Player and team names are used respectfully in a fan tribute context. If any club, player or individual would prefer their name not to appear in our catalogue, we will respectfully remove it upon request. We make charitable donations to grassroots sports initiatives and hope one day to work directly with the clubs and individuals who inspire us. Everything we produce is made with genuine admiration and support for the people whose names we carry - and for the fans who love them.

The Players Couture catalogue covers football, golf, boxing, rugby, cricket, basketball, Formula 1 and beyond - in hoodies, t-shirts, polo shirts and kids sizes. Create your own at Players Couture.
