Victorian Carved Walnut & Leather Library Chair Button Back Fireside Armchair

 A handsome late Victorian library or reading chair dating to around 1890, featuring deeply buttoned leather upholstery in a rich light brown/olive tone. The backrest is framed by a pierced and beautifully carved walnut crest rail, adorned with scrolling acanthus leaves and a floral urn motif. The arms are shaped and carved, resting over solid side panels with further decorative floral carvings, all supported by boldly turned front legs and brass castors.

This generously sized chair retains all the grandeur of the Victorian period, with excellent craftsmanship evident in the crisp carving and robust frame. A true statement piece for any library, study, or lounge setting.

Condition Report:

Good decorative condition overall. The original leather has aged beautifully with natural wear, creasing, and a patina consistent with age. There is a faint ring mark to the seat and some minor scuffs, but no tears or structural concerns. The joints are solid, the castors present and functioning.
